2023-2024 Mav Motion Dance Team

We are so excited to meet your dancers next week! Our Dance team is one team for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The purpose of the Marvin Ridge Dance Team is to promote school spirit and involvement within our school community while fostering teamwork, dedication, strong work ethic and respect. We are looking for amazing people who have a passion for dance. Our culture is not about the coaches or any one individual, but it is about US, the MAV DANCERS!

*Please note, dance team candidates will be evaluated on their technical and performance skills during tryouts. Dance team candidates will be notified about team placement via email within 24 hours.*

Attire for Tryouts:

• ●  Black fitted leggings

• ●  Black fitted tank with no design

• ●  Closed toed shoes (preferably jazz shoes)

• ●  Hair pulled back completely out of face

• ●  Absolutely NO jewelry with the exception of a single stud earring, if you wish

  Required Technical Elements:

• ●  Right Kick

• ●  Left Kick

• ●  Right Grande Jete

• ●  Left Grande Jete

• ●  Right Center Leap

• ●  Double Pirouette

• ●  Toe Touch

• ●  Specialty trick of your choice (jump, leap, turn, tumbling, hip hop trick)

  Required Performance Elements:

• ●  Showmanship

• ●  High energy levels

• ●  Ability to pick up choreography

  The following must be completed in order to tryout, NO EXCEPTIONS:

1. Complete Athletic Registration
a. Complete Registration for MRMS Athletics and upload physical; this will be

done under Fall Season 23-24. Dancers MUST have a valid physical by the clinic date (7/24) in order to be allowed to try out.

PERFORMANCE, ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

Mav Motion will perform at home middle school football games and select home basketball games. Each game will be on a rotation- (ie) 1st Home Game they will dance at the 6th Grade Football Game, next Home Game will be 7th Grade, followed by the next game is 8th Grade then back to 6th Grade.

They will be invited to one Football Game with the Varsity Dance Team. The dance team will also participate in pep rallies, dance clinics, and community events. The team will participate in 1 competition: the Fort Mill Dance Invitational (date TBD.) The expectation is for all dance team members to be in attendance at all scheduled team performances, events, and competitions.

PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS

Attendance at all practices are mandatory unless absent from school the same day or given prior approval. Members should not partake in activities that interfere with the dance team.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATION

The following is a list of the approximate personal financial obligations each dancer will have for the year - some are based on the last 2 years and may vary up or down a slight amount.

Spirit Wear fees are done ONLINE after our first team meeting.
Dance fees are due via Digital Invoice within 1 Week of 1st Team Meeting.

*The Mav Dancers fall under the MRMABC and must sign up and pay the Booster Dance Fee if you are placed on the team. You will sign up and pay here: www.gomavericks.org
