Information for MRMS 6th grade Football Cheer – Fall 2024:

Tryouts for 6th graders Only for MRMS Football Cheer will be held in the MRMS Aux Gym on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 1pm – 3pm and Tuesday, July 30, 2024 starting at 1pm.

Tryout material will be sent on Friday, July 26th by 5pm via e-mail to those who are registered.

You WILL NOT receive Tryout Information unless you are Registered for 6th Grade Cheer!!!

Registration will open on June 1st for MRMS 6th Grade Cheer – you must be Registered in Family ID, you MUST have a current Physical uploaded to Family ID, and be Approved by the Booster Club prior to Tryouts.

Click on the link below for Marvin Ridge Mavericks Athletic Booster Club and scroll about halfway down and click on the middle left Orange box that says, “Marvin Ridge Middle School Sports - Click Here For More Info and Registration,” then click on the upper left Yellow box that says, “MS Sports Online Registration,” scroll down to the Orange box on the right that says “Online Registration Form – All MRMS Sports,” click on that and follow the directions to Register.

There is also an Orange Box that says “MS Athletic Forms and Documents,” click there to print out the 4 page Physical form, called “NCHSAA Pre-Participation Physical Examination Form.”  You must fill out your portion and take it to the doctor for the doctor to fill out the rest.  Make sure the doctor signs and dates the form!

Tryout Attire for each day is a plain white t-shirt with sleeves; navy, royal, black, or orange Soffe or athletic shorts; cheer shoes or white sneakers; hair in a high ponytail.  NO MS, HS, College, or Allstar logos on anything is permitted.  NO jewelry.  Bows are Optional, but may have NO logos on them either.  If the students are not in proper attire, they will NOT be permitted to tryout.

Tryouts will be based on a Cheer, a Chant, and a Dance, which will be sent on Friday, July 26th by 5pm, and also a Toe Touch jump.  Students will need to learn the material by Monday, July 29th and be prepared to tryout in front of the judges on Tuesday, July 30th.  Monday will be a Tryout Clinic where the students will be reviewing the learned material and can ask questions and practice everything to prepare for Tuesday, which is the actual Tryout.  The students are free to leave as soon as they finish trying out on Tuesday.

Practices will start in August – Dates and Times TBD

Practices when School starts will be Wednesday mornings from 7am – 8:15am

Games will be on Saturdays - Dates and Times TBD (game start times will be from 9am – 5pm)

Attendance: 

There will be consequences for missing practices and especially games Unexcused.
