This is my fault about the early dismissal pickup.  I apologize, but do NOT pull to the back of the school and try to go behind the buses.  

For early dismissal, please pull into the area where the 8th graders have their team time.  It is the area when you pass the gravel road on the left, it is the small parking lot on the left with the basketball hoops.  Please pull in there and wait for your son.  Then, you will be able to pull right back out and leave quickly.  

That was on me for the telling the players to have parents pull in the back bus lot.

Saturday, April 24 - None of the teams will practice but there is the possibility of a parent work party that day to get the field ready before the season.  The times are TBD. Thank you to those who participate in advance. 

Sunday, April 25 - The Varsity will practice only.  It will be later in the day.  I plan on having the parent/player expectation meeting after the Varsity practice.  Time TBD.

Tryout Expectations 

If your son will be attending the Sunday, April 18 session, please drop him off promptly at the time of his tryout.  Do not pull down the gravel road.   At 5 pm, there will be a lot traffic with the JV ending and the Varsity beginning, please be mindful of that.  

ALL TRYOUTS ARE CLOSED!

Your son will need a White T-shirt for tryouts.   The first day he attends tryouts a number will be put on the back in permanent black magic marker.  So, please have it be an old t-shirt.  Make sure it is on the outside if he wearing other shirts.  

For the Monday and Tuesday tryouts, please have your son bring his gear to school and store it outside of the gym doors.  This applies to the 430 pm group.  Again, please be mindful at 630 pm, there will be a lot of traffic.  

Please dress appropriately for the weather.  

Please bring snacks and water.  

The final rosters for each team will be posted Wednesday, April 21 at some point in the evening.

Back in the fall, there was a baseball zoom meeting outlining the expectations of players who make the middle school baseball program.  

I am not sure if all parents attended that meeting.

EXPECTATION FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL BASEBALL PLAYERS WHO MAKE ANY OF THE JV AND VARSITY TEAMS:

I expect that all of our players are 100 % committed to attend every practice and all games.   I previously spoke about travel ball and middle school baseball.   That is something we do not juggle.  With that being said, if your son has an off day, I don't have any problem with him going to a facility and getting a workout in.  However, if he is a pitcher, please do not pitch as our coaches take care of our pitchers during the season.  It is fine to hit and throw.   Our season will begin with tryouts April 18 and has the potential to go to June 20.

3. Everyone's goal is to sale 20 tickets.  This money will go towards the dugouts, and general field equipment.  Coach Pacella has extra tickets for any player who wants to sale more, and earn the extra incentives.
4. We will have two checkpoint dates in the sale.  The first checkpoint is Monday March 22nd, each player's goal is to have 12 sold.  The second checkpoint (and turn in date) is Monday 3-29.
5. Players can accept cash or check from in hand sales.  Checks need to be made out to PSF (Palmetto Sports Fundraising)
6. Tickets can also be sold virtually using the sales tracking app and paid by credit card.  
7. Attached in the email are the instructions to sign up.  We ask everyone send 20 or more emails via the app.  Each player that sends 20+ emails will get a set of earbuds with a custom MR carry case.
8. It is the responsibility of the player to get any ticket sold to the purchaser.
9. 20 emails sent prize = MR Earbuds
10. 20 tickets sold = MR cage jacket, and two free tickets the player can sale.  An extra free card will also be rewarded for each 5 sold over the inital 20.  25 sold=3 free, 30 sold=4 free
11. 30 tickets sold = MR bookbag with name stitched
12. 50 tickets sold = $150 giftcard of choice

With the amount of rain we received today and the condition of the field, I am going to cancel workouts tomorrow, Wednesday, March 17.  Here is the new schedule for the rest of week:

Friday, March 19:  230 pm to 430 pm - Middle school baseball field

Saturday, March 20:  1245 pm to 245 pm  - Middle school baseball field

Sunday, March 21:  4 pm to 6 pm - Middle school baseball field

Thanks to all of you who attended the fundraiser meeting tonight.  If your son is not attending school Wednesday and Thursday and you would like to pick up tickets, please email me and I will be glad to leave them up at the front office for you to pick up.  I will also bring tickets to the workouts Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Players that attend school tomorrow and Thursday can stop by my office to pick up tickets.  My office is upstairs in the sixth grade hallway.  My door will be open and tickets will be on the desk just in case I am not in my office.  Thank you!

On Tuesday, March 16 at 7pm, there will be a zoom meeting for our fundraiser.  We do our fundraiser through Palmetto Sports and our representative Jason Hayes will be running the meeting and providing information on how the fundraiser will work this year.  We will be starting asap and it usually lasts 2 weeks, so it should be completed before spring break.

Optional workouts for all middle school boys interested in baseball this week (March 8 - 14) will be:

Wednesday, March 10:  430 pm to 630 pm either on the high school baseball field or the middle school baseball field.   If we can get on the middle school field, that is our first choice.  

Friday, March 12:  230 pm to 430 pm on the middle school baseball field.  

For players that attend school on Wednesday, please bring all of your gear to school and put it outside of the gym door on the brick wall.   Please meet Coach Pacella in the gym after school so you can promptly get changed and head to the field.

For players that are not in school on Wednesday, have your parents drop you off near the high school and walk down to the field staying on the sidewalk.  The car rider line is quite lengthy and it will be easier for you as a parent to exit if you drop your son off at the high school.  If you prefer to wait in line you can, but you will have to go all the way through the car rider line.

Looking at the radar and forecast, it looks like it is going to rain from midday for several hours so I am going to go ahead and cancel the middle school baseball workout today, February 26 on the high school field.

Just as a reminder, this Sunday, February 28 at 330 pm will be the last workout scheduled at the Waxhaw Athletic Barn.  Please register using the link if you are interested in attending.

Next week, the plan is to start working out outside.  It looks like we will go Wednesday, March 3 from 430 pm to 630 pm on the high school baseball field.  Players that attend school on Wednesday will bring their baseball gear to school.  I will give more details in a separate email.   We will also work out Friday, March 5 from 230 pm to 430 pm on the middle school baseball field.  I will confirm those and send another email giving more details.

There will be a middle school workout for all players interested in baseball on Friday, February 26 from 230 pm to 430 pm on the high school baseball field.  This workout is optional for all players interested.  

Please drop your son off where the gravel road meets the concrete road in front of the middle school baseball field and they can walk up to the field from there.  The gravel road needs to remain clear at all times.  Please pick up at 430 pm at the same location.  

The weather shows a possibility of rain on Friday so please check the website often and your email for those registered.  If I am going to cancel, I will do my best to make a decision Friday morning at the latest.  

This is also a reminder that this will be the last Sunday (February 28) at the Waxhaw Athletic Barn for workouts.  The link opens up after 3 pm on Tuesday.

The workout scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, February 19 from 230 pm to 430 pm on the high school baseball field is cancelled due to the weather and condition of the field.  Even if it clears up tomorrow, we are limited on what we can do tomorrow on the field.  We will shoot for next Friday, February 26 from 230 pm to 430 pm on the high school field for the next workout.  Just a reminder, we have the barn this Sunday, February 21.  Please let me know if you have any questions....

Bats may NOT exceed 34" in length and barrel not to exceed 2-5/8" in diameter.  All aluminum/alloy bats and all composite handles (only) aluminum/alloy barrel bats are allowed.  Only composite barrel bats certified and marked BBCOR .50 will be allowed and composite barrel bats certified and marked USA Baseball.  Wood barrel bats conforming to the specifications of Official Baseball Rule 1.10 are allowed.  USA Baseball sticker place on an older bat will NOT be allowed.  (Varsity Only - Drop 3 or Drop 5)

This Friday, February 19 will be a baseball workout for all middle school boys interested in baseball from 230 pm to 430 pm on the Marvin Ridge High School Baseball Field.  Please do not pull down the gravel road.  Drop your son off where the concrete and gravel meet by the middle school field so the traffic will continue to move smoothly.  Please pick your son up in the same area.  Please check the website often for a possible cancellation.  With the weather we have had and the forecast, there is the possibility of the workout being cancelled.

JV Orange Parents,

As you know with Governor Cooper's announcement that school will be done virtually for the remainder of the school year, that also ended our baseball season.

When I personally found out, I was heartbroken!  I am certainly proud of these boys and the effort they put into the season even though it was short lived.  I am sure the boys are disappointed but the good news is they have a future to look forward to in middle school and beyond.  I personally am impressed with the character of these kids and I commend them for how they handled themselves on the field and off.  I look forward to them improving and coming back to tryout again next year.  

I know there are players who earned incentives from the fundraiser.  I will also have to collect uniforms from the players at some point.  Hopefully, as time goes on and restrictions are loosened, I will send an email back out for a plan for taking care of those items.
