Indoor Track & Field Information
Practice:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday from 3:20-5:30
Events:
Athletes may compete in up to 4 of the following events during a Track & Field Meet;

55m dash Long Jump
55m hurdles Triple Jump
300m dash High Jump
500m dash Shot Put
1000m run Pole Vault
1600m run
3200m run
4x400m relay
4x800m relay
Meets:
There are two types of Track & Field Meets during the winter season.
A. Polar Meets- Polar Bear Meets are held outside on 400m tracks. The events are usually split between two days and held during the school week.
B. Invitationals- Invitationals are held indoors on 200m tracks. Invitationals are usually held on the weekends. Each school is limited in their entries for each event at an invitional meet and limited to one relay team.
Post Season Competition:
Athletes must meet a NCHSAA qualifying standard to compete in the 1A/2A/3A State Indoor Track & Field Cahmpionship Meet, which is held at UNC Chapel Hill.
Clothing:
All athletes should come to practice dressed in layers. Every athlete should have a new or recently purchased pair of training shoes to practice in daily. Depending on an athletes events, spikes or specialty event shoes might be required for competition. The coaching staff will discuss the need for spikes or specialty shoes with each individual athlete.
